Hongcouver

So I just came back yesterday from a conference on the other side of this big country called Canada. The weather was beautiful but a little too hot in the last days, and I really should go back later with my better half (who'll be my *gasp* wife by then) because Vancouver is a beautiful city, but slightly further from the Rockies than I was expecting. I only took a handful of shitty pictures (with my cellphone, can't wait to see the roaming charges...), the best are above.

Today also happens to be the twentieth anniversary of the day after the Tiananmen Square massacre, thus the day when a certain unknown rebel with balls of steel adamantium stood in front a a line of tanks. Since I already posted a "borrowed" picture of the replica of the statue of the Goddess of Democracy that's on UBC campus, I'll put this "new" picture of Tank Man, which I also stole:

This blog is probably now blocked by Chinese censors. Sorry to all my blog followers in the Middle Kingdom, who will never read this apology and are condemned to never know about my adventures on the Rideau Canal, just like the rest of the readers of this blog...
